Why monthly accounting

Your books should not become reliable once a year.

A bank account can reconcile while the accounting behind it is still incomplete. Missing invoices, unexplained transactions and VAT evidence gaps often become visible only when somebody reviews the books properly.

Our ongoing services are designed to find those exceptions in-period, agree who needs to act, and close the month on a controlled basis rather than letting problems accumulate until VAT or year end.

01Clean books

Transactions processed and reconciled consistently.

02Evidence controlled

Missing invoices and explanations surfaced early.

03Useful numbers

A dependable base for VAT, tax, cash planning and decisions.

The monthly close

A timetable that makes responsibility explicit.

Two fixed review points move document chasing and accounting questions closer to the transaction date, then keep resolved periods closed.

01
First Friday

Review 1

Initial Exception Pack identifies missing evidence, unreconciled items and questions that need action.

02
Action

Exceptions

Items are assigned and resolved while transactions and supporting evidence are still current.

03
Second Friday

Review 2

Remaining items are reviewed and the final close position is made explicit.

04
Control

Close & lock

Resolved periods stay closed. Late documents are handled as controlled post-close adjustments.

Choose the operating model

We can run the books, or independently review yours.

The control process is the same. The difference is who performs the day-to-day bookkeeping.

01

Managed bookkeeping

We do the bookkeeping, run both monthly reviews, resolve exceptions with you and close the month.

02

Monthly oversight

You maintain the bookkeeping. We independently review it, issue the Exception Pack and take the month through to close.

Compliance only

You maintain complete books and records. We prepare and file the statutory work based on what you provide.

Exception Pack

See what still needs attention before the month closes.

A reconciled bank account does not necessarily mean the accounting record is complete. The Exception Pack makes unresolved items explicit before the month is closed.

Contractors & consultants

Simple company. Proper tax planning.

A one-person consultancy may have few transactions, but remuneration, payroll, dividends, pension contributions and VAT still need to work together.

We provide a streamlined route for contractors and consultants who want the company kept compliant and the annual extraction plan reviewed rather than mechanically repeated.

Advisory support

When you want more than compliance.

Some businesses need regular finance support as they grow: somebody to review the numbers with them, improve controls and help turn the accounting into action.

This sits above routine bookkeeping and compliance. It is aimed at directors who want an ongoing relationship rather than a once-a-year conversation.

About Simpsons Cloud Accounting
Client perspectives

Reliable support, throughout the year.

“Simpsons Cloud Accounting has looked after my company’s accounts since 2019. As a director, I have always received prompt answers to questions about the accounts, HMRC requirements and the software, and the guidance has helped me understand what needs to be done and why. I would recommend Simpsons Cloud Accounting to other business owners looking for a reliable accountant.”

Antonio Mardini
Assembly and More

“Really happy to have worked with Stuart for three years. The integration of accounting software has been so helpful, and I now feel I have much more understanding and control over my tax position and the various options whenever there are decisions to make. Clear explanations every time give me the confidence I need to concentrate on running my business.”

Robin Grasby
Director, Altrock

“I’ve worked with Stuart and Simpsons Cloud Accounting since 2019 across two owner-managed businesses, including an FCA-regulated firm. What I value most is that the support goes beyond simply preparing the annual accounts. Stuart helps us understand the financial position across both businesses, supports the financial information we need for regulatory reporting, and works with us on planning salary, dividends and directors’ loans. With two companies operating to different year ends, having that joined-up view is particularly valuable. It means we can consider the tax and cash implications before making decisions rather than simply dealing with them after the year end.”

Duncan Radford
Managing Director, Imperium Mortgages Ltd

“Stuart has supported WORLDwrite for more than a decade. He designed an accounting system around the way we actually work, keeping data entry straightforward while building in the charity accounting, controls and reporting we need. He has consistently helped us resolve technical issues, meet reporting deadlines and provide reliable financial information for trustees, our independent examiner and funders. What stands out is that he understands accounting systems have to work for the people using them. We have stayed with the system he built because it works for us, and I would highly recommend Stuart and Simpsons Cloud Accounting.”
